March 8, 2010
Philadelphia, PA – The AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies today announced that Jay Feldstein, DO, has been named Interim Regional President of the Northeast Region and Corporate Chief Medical Officer.

"Dr. Feldstein's leadership has been invaluable to AmeriHealth Mercy, and I am pleased to have him focus on our important Northeast Region as Interim Regional President," said Michael A. Rashid, President and Chief Executive Officer of the AmeriHealth Mercy Family of Companies. "His knowledge and understanding of this business will be key to our continuing service to members, providers and the communities."

Dr. Feldstein has served at AmeriHealth Mercy as the Corporate Chief Medical Officer since 2007, overseeing the medical management strategy, medical policies, quality management, medical management products and medical informatics. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President of Medical Affairs and was responsible for the Medical Management Division of the Pennsylvania Businesses, including medical management initiatives such as utilization, quality, case management and disease management.

Dr. Feldstein’s new duties will include oversight of the company's Pennsylvania plans, Keystone Mercy Health Plan and AmeriHealth Mercy Health Plan, and their marketing, provider network management, medical management, government relations, and financial operations. AmeriHealth Mercy’s Pennsylvania plans cover more than 400,000 people.

"It is an honor to be given this responsibility," said Dr. Feldstein. "These plans are truly leaders in health care solutions for the underserved, and I look forward to continuing their tradition of service, quality and compassion."

Prior to joining AmeriHealth Mercy, Dr. Feldstein was a Senior Medical Director for Aetna's Mid-Atlantic region. In this role, he was responsible for developing and implementing medical cost and quality initiatives; developing and maintaining provider relations and communication strategies; budget oversight; and profit and loss initiatives. Dr. Feldstein's health care career includes experience as the Network Medical Director for Aetna's Southern New Jersey/Delaware division, the Medical Director for Concentra Health Center and President and CEO of Occupational Health Resources, Inc.
